Elizabeth Robinson earned her Juris Doctor Degree from the University
of South Carolina School of Law in 1992. Additionally, Elizabeth holds a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Special Education from Converse College.
Elizabeth has had assignments on both the federal and state level
during her legal career. Elizabeth served as Law Clerk to the
Honorable William Catoe, US Federal Magistrate in Greenville, and as
Law Clerk to the Honorable Tom Ervin, of the South Carolina 10th
Circuit. Elizabeth then transitioned to the South Carolina Supreme
Court where she served as a Staff Attorney.
Elizabeth has spent the last 13 years of her legal career serving the
state’s law enforcement community. She recently completed the
Federal Law Enforcement Training Center’s renowned Legal Advisor’s
Training Class. She served for two years as the Staff Attorney for the
Lancaster County Sheriff's Office in Lancaster, South Carolina, and
served in the same position for eight years in the York County Sheriff’s
Office in York, South Carolina.
Prior to that, Elizabeth was assigned as Assistant General Counsel for
the Department of Public Safety in Columbia, SC, where she was
responsible for training in legal issues at the SC Criminal Justice
Academy. For three years, she trained all basic law enforcement
students in criminal and constitutional law and procedure, as well as
advanced training in many issues. In this position, Elizabeth wrote and
delivered the annual Legal Update that is broadcast across the state
for annual Legal training. Elizabeth and her husband, Glenn, developed
the basis of the Advanced Criminal Domestic Violence course and
taught that course statewide prior to the CDV Grant initiative at the
Academy. She has conducted statewide law enforcement and Judicial
Training on Domestic Violence, Driving Under the Influence, and Ethics.
In serving at the local law enforcement level, Elizabeth has developed
and instituted policy and procedure manuals for two different
organizations. She also handled personnel issues for these
departments, and as such She would be a wealth of information and
help for your organization in dealing with potentially difficult personnel
situations. Elizabeth is well versed in the Freedom of Information Act,
and can advise you in all aspects of how to handle those requests
from the media. Additionally, she can help you develop press releases
for any number of incidents and situations.
Elizabeth has advised law enforcement in virtually every area of police
work, from civil process questions to personnel and policy questions,
to prosecuting criminal cases. She is available to represent your
department, or to answer questions that arise on a daily basis in this
volatile field.
